What will you discover when you come to see us?
We know a room can be seen in a photo, but the atmosphere of a home is only felt when you walk through the door. That’s why, when we say our doors are open, we truly mean that we want you to experience firsthand everything that makes Olarain the perfect ecosystem for your university years:
1. A privileged location
When you visit us, you’ll see that we are not only in Donostia, but right in the heart of the EHU campus. You’ll notice we are just steps away from Tecnun and Musikene, and that faculties such as Deusto or the Basque Culinary Center are perfectly connected thanks to our own transport service and public transportation.
Ondarreta Beach is just a short walk away, ideal for unwinding after an intense day of studying, and our residence hall is located next to the El Antiguo neighborhood, a lively area with everything you need for daily life.
2. Facilities designed for high performance and free time
We want you to walk through the spaces where you will build your future. Our facilities are designed to optimize every minute of your study time, while also allowing space for rest and social life:
- Silence and focus: you’ll be able to step into the Toti Martínez de Lezea Library, a space that breathes calm and offers views of nature to inspire you, or work in groups in our study rooms.
- Specialized spaces: we will show you our soundproof music practice rooms, the technology workshop for engineering projects, and the physiotherapy room. Because depending on the degree you’ve chosen, your study needs are different.
- And when it’s time to disconnect from your studies, you can explore the sports facilities, the gym, the sauna, the common lounges, the Japanese garden… shared spaces designed to foster community life and social interaction.
3. Services that simplify your daily logistics so you can focus on your goals
University life is already demanding enough. We will explain how our dining service—with our own kitchen and locally sourced products—along with laundry and room cleaning services, are designed so you can focus on what truly matters: your academic performance and your well-being.
4. You’ll meet the people who will accompany you during this stage
Olarain is much more than accommodation. Beyond the facilities and services, its heart lies in the team who will support you throughout your stay. When you come to meet us, you won’t receive a generic group tour; you’ll have a personalized visit.
It’s an opportunity to feel the closeness, trust and care that define Olarain’s culture. We want you to learn about the support programs we offer to provide both emotional and academic guidance.
Olarain Care, where we prioritize your overall well-being and mental health; Olarain Explore, which connects you with your professional future through company visits and talent guidance; Olarain Impact, where we collaborate with social projects and the third sector; and Olarain Nature, with initiatives that integrate sustainability into your daily life and encourage care for the environment. Everything is designed so that your stay becomes a transformative experience that leaves a lasting mark on your life.
Our doors are open to you. Come and discover Olarain
We want you to see firsthand everything we can offer you, including our “goxotasuna”, a Basque word that perfectly describes that pleasant feeling of the warmth of a home and the welcoming nature of its people.
Because feelings are essential when building trust, our doors are always open for you and your family to come and meet us.
We would love to welcome you at the entrance, show you the light-filled spaces of our library and rooms, introduce you to our dining hall, the gym, the Japanese garden… and above all, sit down and talk calmly. We prioritize personalized visits because every student is unique.
Igor Urbizu, our psychologist and tutor, and Javier Marín, Director of Residents, will be delighted to welcome you, answer your questions and explain how our commitment to hospitality, attentive listening and support truly makes the difference.

The ideal time to visit Olarain
Any day is a good day to come and see us. But if you’d like to make the most of your trip, we suggest:
- Timing your visit with the Open Days of the different universities in Donostia / San Sebastián, such as Tecnun, Deusto, EHU, Musikene or the Basque Culinary Center.
- Coming on the days when you sit your university entrance exams.
We are convinced that Olarain is the ideal place for your talent and well-being to grow together. And we want you to meet in person the team and the place that can help make that possible.
You can book your personalized visit by emailing tutoria@olarain.com, javiermarin@olarain.com, or by calling +34 943 00 33 00. Igor and Javier will assist you with the “goxotasuna” that defines our university residence.
The steps to become part of the Olarain family
If you’ve decided that Olarain is your place, the admission process is simple yet personalized, ensuring that each new resident fits with our philosophy of community living. These are the steps to follow:
- Pre-registration and documentation: The first step is to complete and submit the required documentation along with proof of payment of the deposit. Registration is processed in order of arrival.
- Personal interview (Key requirement): Once we receive your documentation, our tutoring or management team will contact you to arrange a personal interview. This meeting is a mandatory requirement for admission, as it allows us to get to know each other personally before the final decision.
- Admission in order of application: This way we can guarantee your place from the moment you reserve it.
If you are already a resident and wish to stay for another year, the process is even simpler: just complete the pre-registration, and admission is confirmed once you submit your final grades from the last academic year.
